How to access and use the Internet Browser on the Android TV™.

This article provides basic information on how the Internet Browser(*) works.
*The official name of the Internet Browser is Vewd (formerly Opera) Internet Browser.

IMPORTANT:

  • Make sure the TV is connected to the Internet using either a wired or wireless connection before proceeding.
  • The Internet browser may not be available even if you are connected to the Internet. Refer to I cannot find the web browser app on my Android TV™
  • Not all Sony Internet video devices have an Internet browser. Check the specifications of your device to determine if it has an Internet browser.
  • Confirm that the system/firmware of your TV is updated to the latest version.

Accessing the Internet Browser

  1. On your TV remote control, press the HOME button.
  2. For Android™ 8.0 only: Select Apps.
  3. In theApps category, select Internet Browser.

Exiting the Internet Browser

  1. Move the cursor towards the upper right hand corner of the screen, and select the Vewd icon.
  2. On the menu list, scroll down and select Exit.
  3. Under the Exit screen, select OK.

Entering a URL Address

  1. Press the up arrow button repeatedly until the cursor reaches the upper part of the screen where the address bar is.
  2. Press the enter button.
  3. On the soft keyboard, key in your desired search term or web address.
  4. Select GO.

Click or Select an Item

  1. On the remote control, use the up, down, left and right arrow buttons to move the cursor on the TV screen to select an item.
  2. Press the enter button to select desired item.

    To scroll the TV screen using the touchpad remote control, follow these steps: (For TVs manufactured in 2015)

    • Flick down or flick up (swipe) along the right side of the touchpad.

    Reload and Navigate Webpages

    Register a Bookmark

    1. Load the page that you want to register to your Bookmarks.

      Method 1:

      1. Using the remote control, move the cursor to the top part of the screen, and select Bookmarks.
      2. Select Add to Bookmark.

      Method 2:

      1. Using the remote control, move the cursor to the upper part of the screen, and select the Vewd icon.
      2. On the menu list, select Add to Bookmark.
    2. Select OK when the following screen is displayed.

    Enlarge the Screen

    1. On the remote control, move the cursor to the upper part of the screen to select the Vewd icon.
    2. On the menu list, select Settings.
    3. Under the Settings menu list, select Zoom.

    Erase History

    1. On the remote control, move the cursor to the upper part of the screen to select the Vewd icon.
    2. On the menu list, select Settings.
    3. Under the Settings menu list, select Clear history.

    Turn On the Accessibility Mode

    1. On the remote control, move the cursor to the upper part of the screen to select the Vewd icon.
    2. On the menu list, select Settings.
    3. Under the Settings menu list, select Accessibility Mode Off.
      • It will change to Accessibility Mode On once you selected this option.

    Always Show Menu Bar

    1. On the remote control, move the cursor to the upper part of the screen to select the Vewd icon.
    2. On the menu list, select Settings.
    3. Under the Settings menu list, select Always Show Menu Bar Off.
      • It will change to Always Show Menu Bar On once you selected this option.
